Tomcat Webserver

i have a small problem with Tomcat webserver 4.1. i basically provide technical support for a webfiltering company and the reporting module gets installed along with tomcat 4.1 on windows2000 server with sp4. now when i installed and configured this, tomcat was not connecting at all throught the default port of 8888 to the reporting logon page. i did all the standard things like reinstalling, changing the port no and even disabled the antivirus agent. now i don't know much about tomcat and so i really dont know what could be the problem.... any suggestions. my feeling is that there is something else is installed- software or windows patch which is clashing- so probably some registry change needs to be done.
