Angry Sound card is being annoying.

I bought-http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170070101113

I installed this card on my windows ME and when I try to click on control panel to change around so the sound card will work, the window freezes. When I click on the creative program a message comes up saying "The audio device by this application is not detected. The application will exit." What is the wrong?

The link you didn't fully post would be useless since "the bidding has closed on this item" would be the only thing seen. As far as the audio device not detected error the installer is most likely trying to load 2000/XP drivers if that is a newer model card you bought. What model card is it? You will most likely have to directly to Creative's support site to see if that model has 98/ME drivers available for it.

If you don't have a bad disk or didn't see a bad install for some reason you could have ended up with a bad card. Upon first starting the system did Windows prompt for drivers due to detecting a new device? Did you hear anything from it before the freeze occurred like the Windows startup sound?

The first thing to try there is going into the device manager and see if there's a listing for Creative Live(WDM) in the "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" section there. If that has a yellow mark the drivers didn't see a good install. The first thing I have always done with SB models before running XP and even after was to completely uninstall the Creative software and then use the add hardware wizard to select the type of device from the list just to get the basic drivers in.

If the Creative item is listed in the device manager you can try right clicking it and choosing the update driver option as a start. But sometimes a removal and fresh install will work best if the card is good.
