Default Simple question: RAM or processor upgrade

This is pretty simple. Im going to either upgrade my RAM or processor, NOT BOTH. For now atleast. Here are the options:

Upgrading from 1gb of ram to 2gb of ram.
Upgrading from AMD 3500+ to a AMD 4600+.

Which one would give the better performance boost for games?

processor now, which will allow you to better take advantage of faster ram later.

Would the processor give me much of an increase in performance/lag reduction?

Either will give a good boost in performance, I believe you will realize a larger increase with the CPU.

As mentioned already, what is your GPU?

i would suggest you to upgrade cpu, coz upgrading RAM to 2 gig actually won't help much in games (if you are gamers) 1 gig is always enough.
If you need to pump the frame rates in games, it depends highly on your CPU and Graphic cards.

What types of games are you playing? If it is a memory intensive game, Adding Ram can have a huge impact on performance.
