Smile PC will not see digi camera...can't access pics

The story so far:- The Camera is a FujiFilm FinePix F20. The computer is
a Dell Dimension 5000. My operating system is Windows XP SE2 Home edition
I have tried to install the hardware by the CD supplied, and with another
version of this CD supplied by Fuji Technical Help, I have tried to
install using the computer install wizard, all to no avail. I have run a
diagnostic check with Dell technical help and it seems that all systems
are ok. What I have noticed when I plug the Camera or the picture card
reader into the USB ports and open the system manager these appear with
a yellow ? a yellow circle with an! in the centre. When asked why it
will not connect it says that it cannot find the software on the disc.
Also it comes up with error code 28.

One suggestion that the system says is download in "administrator "
mode. Whats that?

I think that is about all I can tell you so lets hope that someone out
there can help.

this is a lame suggestion, but you ARE turning the camera on before you connect it, right?

There might be a setting for how the camera connects to the computer, there should be PTP and normal try changing that if there is such a setting on you camera.

Are you using the original USB cable that came with the camera? I've had troubles before where only a certant USB cable would work with some devices.
Re Administrator mode.... are you loged into windows as an Administrator or just a standard user?

Are you in an a "limited account" in your computer?
Fresh set of batteries in your camera?

On my personal system I bought a card reader a 12-1 I believe is what I bought. Was about $12USD and that is the only thing I use now.

Curious what type of memory card does it take?
Hopefully you dont have a corupted media card.
