Configuring your email client: Outlook Express and Outlook 2002 (Windows only)
To configure your client automatically:
Run the auto-configuration tool. (You can also configure your client manually.)
Click 'Open,' and select the program you'd like to use with Google Mail.
Enter your Google Mail username (everything before '@googlemail.com') in the 'E-mail address:' field.
Enter your name in the 'Display name:' field.
Click 'Configure.'
Congratulations! You're done configuring your client to send and retrieve Google Mail messages.

To configure your client manually:

Open Outlook or Outlook Express.
Click the 'Tools' menu, and select 'Accounts...'
Click 'Add,' and then click 'Mail...'
Enter your name in the 'Display name:' field, and click 'Next.'
Enter your full Google Mail email address (username@googlemail.com) in the 'Email address:' field, and click 'Next.'
Enter 'pop.googlemail.com' in the 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:' field. Enter 'smtp.googlemail.com' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server:' field.
Click 'Next.'
Enter your Google Mail username (including '@googlemail.com') in the 'Account name:' field. Enter your Google Mail password in the 'Password:' field, and click 'Next.'
Click 'Finish.'
Highlight 'pop.googlemail.com' under 'Account,' and click 'Properties.'
Click the 'Advanced' tab.
Tick the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Outgoing Mail (SMTP).'
Enter '465' in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP):' field.
Tick the box next to 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL)' under 'Incoming mail (POP3).' The port will change to 995.
*The order of 'Outgoing' and 'Incoming' mail server fields varies by version. Make sure you enter the correct information in each field.
Click the 'Servers' tab, and tick the box next to 'My server requires authentication.'
Click 'OK.'
Congratulations! You're done configuring your client to send and retrieve Google Mail messages.

* Did you click 'Save Changes' after enabling POP in Google Mail? To ensure that Google Mail can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click 'Save Changes' on the Google Mail 'Mail Settings' page.

Outlook Express (IE 5)
Outlook Express allows you to add a new email account to your existing profile. This means you do not have to replace your current settings in order to send and receive Yahoo! Mail messages. Here's how:
From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
Select the "Mail" tab.
Click the "Add" button.
From the Add menu, click "Mail."
In the text box labeled Display Name, type your name and click "Next."
In the Email Address box, type your Yahoo! Mail address (be sure to include "@yahoo.com.au" or "@yahoo.co.nz") and click "Next."
Select "POP3" to answer the question "My incoming mail server is a...."
In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box, type pop.mail.yahoo.com.au
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au
Click "Next."
In the Account Name box, type your Yahoo! Mail address (without the "@yahoo.com.au" or "@yahoo.co.nz").
In the Password box, type your Yahoo! Mail Password.
If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the "Remember password" box.
Do not check the "Log on using secure password" box.
Click "Next."
Click "Finish."
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail Server:

From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
Select the "Mail" tab.
Double-click the account labeled pop.mail.yahoo.com.au
Select the "Advanced" tab.
In the Delivery section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on the Yahoo! Mail server as well as on your local computer. Do not check this box if you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! Mail server once you have received them in Outlook Express.
