Default headphone detection problem

I just plugged my computer in last night after it sitting for about a year or maybe even 2, i have drivermagic and i used it and install all the nessesary drivers, but one says the device is not working its called C-Media AC97 Audio Device, and it says its not working properly, then if i go into audio, it says no playback device and i cant even adjust the volume, please help me it would help alot thank you.

Do you have onboard sound or a sound card. Either way, look up who makes it and see if you can find the right driver.

i have an onboard i think.. and i think its realtek, im trying a driver now now

well i installed that driver, and i restarted my comp, and it freezes at the windows screen every time and im pretty sure that its because of a defective windows cd, and suggestions?
