usually the higher model is better , but at times i saw tat low models owned models higher , so its better to actually try it

9600 wa made to be a budget card. the extra 64mb the 9700 has will be alot better. and also i believe the 9700 has more pipelines...whcih is also better. id defintly put my money on the 9700. its usually better than 9600. the 9500 is the only card ive ever seen beat out a higher model. that was an awesome card :p

The 9700 is a more advanced card for notebooks.... not so sure about desktop cards but with notebooks, the premier card is the 9700

in desktops, ATi actually got industry presence from its 9700 Radeon Flag Ship, saying that 9700 (in desktops) came after 9600 is wrong, as 9600 is actually advancement of the 9500 series on desktops. I have still seen people running for ATi 9700 card (Desktops). therefore It is not wrong to say that mobile 9700 will be faster/better from 9600 chipset.
