Exclamation GF fx5700 problems!!! need help

ok well my friend got me a computer for Christmas, and he had that graphics card in there, well thats the best one ive got, but for some reason i turned of my computer one day, and when i turned it back on, it did all the loading screens, but just after the screen that shows widows xp loading, the screen turns of(the way it does when you set it to power of after X amount of time") how do i fix this?
i was looking around, about how to fix it, and some stuff about directx 9 was coming up. so i thought that mabey when i installed one of my older game, it replaced my directx with an older one. but i tried dling 9 again, and still nothing has happened
i have to use my old one (mx400 pro)

it wouldnt have anything to do with any of the driectX stuff. but if it is a problem with the gpu then put the fx5700 into another computer to see if the card is the problem or not.

yea check that, but also what could have happened, is somehow the screen resolution got changed to a higher setting, and now the monitor cant display that, this has happened to me a few times and i just hook up a better monitor, change the res. and your good to go
