What software would be the best for burning music onto a CD? I know of things like Nero and of course there is Windows Media Player (which isn't that good lol). I want a good one that doesn't like take up 100% of my resources and preferably one that normalizes the songs' volume. More features would be useful but if not, it doesn't matter. I've been using Windows Media Player but I would like to know if there are any other ones.
Freeware or shareware are both good for me. Thanks.

The retail software used here for years for burning mp3s to cds and lacking support for dvds in the older version used on 98 now XP is B's Recorder GOLD. In the newer versions that followed the #5 still in use there is adequate support there for dvd as well as cd authoring. Time again it remains more reliable then Windows does! But that is still a retail product. http://www.bhacorp.com/products/gold8/gold8_basic.html
CDBurnerXP Pro is found amongst a list of other freewares at http://www.itsfree4u.com/cdburning.shtml All you have to do is run a search to find tons of freewares or sharewares of this type. |

You could try iTunes - it includes what they call "Sound Check" which normalizes the volumes. Just create a playlist in the left column, drag and arrange the tracks, then one click on the burn icon. Pretty fool proof.

There's another one at the link that gets some good points called DeepBurner. With 98SE lingering along with XP on the last build I kept the B's Recorder on since you could reinstall 98 over itself and simply create a new shortcut and it would still run ok. But that's the older retail version for you.
