Default yahoo i.m. password problem

greetings all,
i resist asking this question here because it just plainly sounds "suspect" to say the least. i have yahoo instant messenger installed on 2 of my 3 computers. i have formatted a third and am attempting to reinstall yahoo im onto it. when i signed up for yahoo im, i used all bogus information should my computer ever get stolen, hacked, etc..i am sure you may understand the reason(s) for this.

i have attempted to get back into yahoo on that particular computer and am positive that i have the correct user name but, somewhere - somehow i have mis-typed / mis-saved my password.ugh!

at one point i was directed to the yahoo page to recover my password however, since i have misplaced that bogus sign up information as stated above (stupid thing to do!), it winds up being worthless to me.

is there a recovery program that is available or some place in the registry that i can look to get my password back (reveal it)?...this is by no means meant to be an inappropriate question....any help would be appreciated!

I've tried this myself; I use bogus info as well.
The passwords are stored on Yahoo's servers, not on your PC, when your Messenger is set up for manual login. And when I've tried the auto login settings, I was unable to find my password using the search functions in Regedit.
When I lost a couple of accounts like you did, if I didn't know the bogus info, I resigned myself to losing the accounts... and vowed to write down the bogus info and save it somewhere else.
Tom

If you checked the box "save password" on YIM on the other computers, there are programs that can recover the password from there, but I'm afraid that is about as much as I allowed to say, you'll need to research the rest yourself.

Also, whenever you sign up for a yahoo account, you have a choice to sign up for a secondary email... was that bogus as well, or do you need other information to send/reset the password?
