Default Primary internal HD as external in laptop..., but can't see the files in C drive!

Hi guys

My friend just brought over his primary HD that he unplugged from his desktop. We use it as an external HD which connects through USB into my laptop. However, we can't see the files on his C:\ but no problem viewing his other partition. He got all his stuffs in C: (i.e. OS, pics, programs, etc...) but we just can't see anything in my laptop.

Please advice.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Right click my computer, Manage, Disk Management, and see if the drive shows up there. If so, see if you can assign a letter to it.

Hi

The drive show up in the disk management as 2 partitions which is correct. But one is "Unallocated" and the other is "Healthy". The "unallocated" is suppose to be his C:\ because my friend recognize the partition size.

However, when I open the Windows Explorer in my laptop, I can only see his 2nd partition (which is the "Healthy" partition as shown in Disk Management) and not the primary c:\ as we could see in his desktop.

I could assign a letter to that "Unallocated" partition but can't access to it although it says Healthy once I do that. It keeps asking me if I want to format.

Please advice.

(P/s: the Disk Management lists the External HD as dynamic drive which I don;t know what it means.)
