Default cpu + mobo upgrade

hi i currently have a amd64 3000, 1.256 gb ram, nvidia 7800 gtx 500w psu and im looking to upgrade my cpu and mother board any sugestions looking to spend bout £200 ish

I was thinkin a core 2 duo e6300 with a gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 ive found both for £199 is there anything better out there? ne one no if prices will fall soon? hope you all can help me here thanx

The DQ6 is way overkill, get a DS3 or DS4 motherboard which are cheaper and have similar feature lists.

what do u mean by overkill? i can get this mobo cheaper (£69) than ds3 /ds4 (£99+119)

an "overkill" is when a component as features that you don't need / wouldn't use hence you pay more money for nothing more

so if its cheaper which it is would it be worth it? also do u know how much waranty u get with gigAByte mobos?

If you can get the DQ6 cheaper than a DS3 you should definitely do so. That board has a 3 year warranty.

i can get it cheaper refurb but only 90 day warranty
