Default Sound is Choppy or Skipping when my Hard Disk Reads

Have a nice day, I'm a newbie here.

This pc is an internet cafe and online gaming server. When I boot to windows xp, the windows start up sound is skipping, then while I play mp3's using winamp version 5, sound also skipps. I realized later that when my hard disk reads (like when you open a program or an application, you will see the hard disk led blinking), then the sounds skipps or became choppy. I tried to update the driver of the motherboard,(because it is an integrated audio) check the version of DirectX, defrag the hard disk, put the DVD-RW drive into Secondary IDE Port, still same worst problem. Can somebody give me an idea how to fix it?

Update all drivers, including other motherboard drivers, IDE drivers if you can find them(or SATA) Also, how are your processes? Do you have anything that's constantly using your processor? Have you checked recently for viruses or spyware?

Are you running an IDE drive (no converter) with the Main drive as a SATA?

If so... I had the same problem, there is a convertor for $15 to plug the ide into and transfers it to a SATA plug in. Some computers dont need it, Dells do.

CPU process is normal, I am using an ATA100 IDE cable, my hard disk is 80GB Seagate. I am not using the SATA controller, but it is enabled in the BIOS. Do you think the SATA is the cause of this problem?

Nah, the SATA controller should have anything to do with it as if you're not even using it.

How "hard" does your computer think when this is happening? Is the light solid or just blinking a bit? Do you know what mode your drive's running in? (ATA, PIO, etc) It should be under Device Manager > Primary IDE > advanced settings
