Default Want to avoid user login screen

I've recently rebuilt my PC. On installing windows, and being the only user of the PC, when the PC booted up it used to go straight to the desktop without the need to click on my user name.

I've installed various applications now and somewhere along the line its changed something so that now at boot up I get taken to the User login screen; even though I'm the only user. It's really annoying and I cant understand why this has happened.

Is there someway I can avoid this screen since I dont need the security and I'm the only person using the PC? I just want to switch it on and go straight to my desktop like I used to be able to do.

Thanks

make sure there is only one account. if you created another account aside from the administrator account you will need to tweak the registry or security policy.

What kof2000 posted works great. If you find that method..err...not to your liking(?) you can use a software called "Xteq System" that will do all the editing for you. The "Pro" version isn't free...but I have an older free version that still works and never expires.

Ah hear it is - http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=127

OK, I've just stumbled across something that I thought you might find interesting:

I hadn't thought of checking for other users since (apart from guest and admin) I'm the only user created .. or so I thought. Well, I've just checked User Accounts and suddenly there's a new user there "ASP.NET Machine A..."

It's limited (not administrator) and is password protected though what this is I have no idea.

Now the other day I installed the .NET framework (all 3 versions 1.1, 2 and 3) because I wanted to install a program that needed it (ABRViewer; a utility for viewing Photoshop brushes if anyones interested - and very good too - but I digress).

Now the ASP.NET user does not show up on the Welcome login screen, but I guess it does explain why the screen has suddenly started appearing. I'm guessing the ABRViewer has to somehow declare itself as a user. Anyway, thought you might be interested to know about this and thanks for the Tweak UI solution btw .

The ASP.NET account can be safely deleted. That is the fastest and simplest way to deal with the problem. There are a couple of other ways but for simplicity just delete the account.
