I've got an HP laptop that's been running fine for a month+. Does NOT have Vista! Running XP.
Suddenly, I when I startup, the screen is TOTALLY blank. Looks like everything else starts up fine. Thot perhaps the video went bad. So I've plugged in a screen to the port and whoopie, the laptop desktop shows up on the external screen. I tweeked with the Display option in Control Panel---seemed to be make trhe laptop screen reappear, but looks like the Background has been messed with a bit (back to bland Win background) and then the pic I used for the background was ZOOMED in a bit. Powered down (hard down, not just reboot) and everything was as I left it. Did it several times, same thing. Left it overnight, boom, back to no screen on startup. Have run scans etc, nothing is coming up with virus, worm or malware---but it's GOTTA be one of those, right? Thot about CMOS---but not on something this new---AND nothing else seems to have changed. Suggestions? Thanks. J |
