Hey, ive salvaged an old computer from my parents work. Pent 200, god knows what. But the mouse is an old school one, connected to the Comm port 1 plug. And it wont detect it, any reasons why?.

as an alternative you can always install a usb PCI card, granted if you have a pci slot available. then you can use an optical usb mouse. I wouldn't worry much about the mouse port because until you get into windows the mouse is simply put useless. and
OF course before going to drastic measures to add a usb card to resolve the simple task of getting the computer to work. try another serial mouse ![]() |

A cheap solution (other than getting a PS2 mouse) would be to get a Serial to PS2 convertor (however this doesnt work if the mouse itself is fried). You are probably best off getting a PS2 mouse...a cheap one doesnt cost more than $5.
