Looks pretty good. But if you can fork over the cash temporairly, get this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817190012 Its not a huge brand...yet, but I have it and it works really really well. Modular cables are amazingly helpful and its got a huge fan. |

For $10 more I would be going with the Antec TP3 550w model with three 12v rails seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371002 That make and model hasn't been added to either the 'good" or "bad" lists here for the moment.

Apevia/Aspire PSUs are generally quite poor quality. For that price (once shipping is counted) you can get a Corsair HX520W, which is far, far better.

I figured Apevia was a dumper but it wasn't added to the "BAD" list like Aspire is already on! Gee time for some editing there I guess.
Let's see what the new edit looks like. Good: Antec(except Smart Power models) - Astec - AOpen - Channel Well - Coolermaster - Enermax(except Liberty models) - Enlight - Fortron Source (Sparkle) - HEC - OCZ Technology - PC Power & Cooling - PowerMan - Seasonic - SilenX - SilverStone - Tagan - TTGI/SuperFlower - Vantec - Zippy / Emacs - Verax - Zalman - Corsair Bad: Allied - Antec Smart Power models seem to lack(recommend True Power or NeoHE)- Apevia - Aspire - CoolMax - DEER - Enermax Liberty models - EYE-T - KingStar - L&C - Linkworld - Logisys - PowerMagic - PowerUp - Powmax - Q-Tec - Raidmax - Skyhawk - Star - Turbolink - Ultra - ThermalTake(complaints heard) - Rosewill |

Is that the first one you have owned? The lists here are an accumilation over a lenthy period of time by several not one. ceewi1 just confirmed my immediate thoughts on the Apevia when bringing up the Aspire name along with it. That's on the "foobar" list as you can see.
On rather "rare" occasions you can sometimes slide with a "cheapie" for basic uses like checking mail and browsing. But once you start gaming or running any demanding combinations suddenly there's an... ut oh! when the power drops off or the system suddenly goes dark. |

APEVIA is garbage for a psu, go with the antec. I would take a 450 watt antec over that 600 watt, efficiency is almost as important as wattage.

Gee I just added a 500gb sata drive and still haven't swapped out the Antec TP II 480w for the TP II 550w I have sitting around here somewhere. I had to switch from the 430w model in the old case with a Socket A for the newer model due to not having the 20+4 main power connector. Right after ordering the TP II 550w newegg suddenly had the TP3 550w model.
That will be considered if I add three more WD 500gb sata drive to have an array going. Antec has always been reliable and stable despite the hardware swaps. And that's the thing to really look rather the amps on a rail or output totals. |
