I use Fraps to record most of my games, but the tool can only record the games that use Direct3D or OpenGL. I have a lot of other games as well, some that don't use Direct3D or OpenGL, and I want to record them too. I can use Camtasia Studio for that, but that piece of software doesn't seem to work very well for recording video games. Here is a list of the codecs I tried with Camtasia Studio(4.0):
- Techsmith: average quality, average FPS - DivX: good quality, pretty good FPS, but can't record games that use 16-bit color or an irregular resolution - XviD: good quality, bad FPS - Uncompressed: good quality, sickly low FPS(1 frame per second or so) - MSU codec: average quality, average FPS Isn't there some tool that focusses Direct3D or OpenGL on an application so that Fraps detects it as using it, so that it will be able to record it? I don't really care about the extreme large file sizes that Fraps produces, since I will compress it afterwards anyways. I just want to be able to record any game with the same good quality and high FPS like Fraps records. Any information about how I can use Fraps in any other program or how I can use Camtasia Studio for recording such good videos as Fraps does(I don't really care about the extreme ease of use) is greatly appreciated. |
