Default Front PC Mic/headphone Plug Wont Work

My desktop pc has a mic/headphone plug in front of the pc and one in the back. For some reason the ones in the front dont work for either (Mic, or headphone) so i have to use the plugs in the back. Any idea how to fix this?

Is this a custom build or store bought, you could look in the case and make sure the case ports are pluged into the motherboard.
