Default HTML Editors

I am looking for an HTML Editor that allows me to just type straight into it without it adding the ends of commands in automatically, I know I can get all this from Notepad but I want a real HTML editor. Any ideas?

you want a website development application. The leading software in this market is macromedia dreamweaver.

If you are new to the scene, and require something a bit more friendly there is microsoft frontpage which is very similer to ms word, but for webdesign

Default HTML-kit

I did some searching last night and got HTML-Kit this is the sort of application I want, it is actually for an I.T Course that I am doing we have to develop a web page in HTML format for our research project, and so the one that are not allowed for some unknown reason is:

Dreamweaver
Frontpage
and
Edit +

- I know these are not all free programs but they just don't want us using these. HTML-kit seems to be all that I want but I will check out bluefish just in case I find it better, thanks for the help!

I think Dreamweaver is not allowed because you don't have to write the whole website... you can just do it with clicks.

The reason I don't like is because it adds useless scripts to your page and therefore makes it longer to load.
