Default Cookie-related question

hey- i just built my first desktop- and want to keep it clean. it's been up and running for under 6hrs and hasnt been on a network- but i noticed 4 cookies already. how is that possible?

also- the only outside source the computer has seen is a portable hard drive- which has been scanned with nod32 and come up clean- but i did have one weird thing happen an hr ago. after installing an intel driver- windows indicated that it was seeing the portable harddrive and then not- and then seeing it and then not. and then upon restarting a few seconds later- there was a program not responding that flashed for a split second that said something like "youshouldnotseethis.exe" i cant imagine that's a standard windows component.

any input would be most appreciated.

-Adam
