Default What is 'Active X' for?

Hi:
When I'm doing eBay stuff, there is a small rectangular box
popping up in the middle of the screen, ....

"Active X needs on this web-page'

click, 'OK,'

What does 'Active X' means?
Why do I need 'Active X?'

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi:
Thanks for the response.

I went to the web-site you provided here, above. however I have no clue about 'Active X' yet.

Strangely, every five minutes or so, this, a rectangular box with warning, "Active X' popping up.

First off, is this 'pop-up,' or spam related?

How to get rid of this, popping-up, Active X?

Thanks again.
