Maybe b/c your cable is not fast enough?

Maybe b/c it is using too much ram?

pc club guy said DSL not cable. There is no sharing of bandwidth like you have with cable. They call it leased lines, where you are given a line dedicated for use 24 hours a day (dedicated line). The distance your home is from your telephone companies building also determines the speed of DSL. The farther away you are the slower the speeds. I would suggest calling your ISP and let the help determine whether or not the problem is on their end, your yours.

93glouden... you really agree with that?

DSL is a dedicated line. If my next door neighbor has DSL and I have DSL neither of our download or upload speeds will be affected by the other one being online....

Whereas if my nextdoor neighbor and I both have cable connections, if he is downloading a bunch of music, my connection speeds might suffer....

dsl runs on phone lines...then through a filter....you could have quite a bit of noise on the line, which in turn, is paralizing your connection speed
