well, its kind of too late, i already have the power supply, im not sure if its the power supply or not, but everytime i run 3dmark in sli mode, the things shuts my computer off instantly after the first test. but when i turn off sli mode, it runs just fine.

here is the power supply i have

Yeah I think your PSU isnt up for the job, on BFG website they recommend a PSU with 450W 30A on a +12v rail (single card).

Your PSU only has 20A, so im guessing thats your problem.

They recommend, but it should work. I don't quite know how affective the Amps can affect a GPU's performance, but to my book, it should be alright. If not, then wait a bit more for two 8600 series.

woah waoh woah

the combined amperage on the 12v rail is more than up to the task. That PSU should easily handle it, and i have seen it do so in many magazines.

the OCZ GameXStream 850w should easily handle it

The recommendation is for the total +12V amperage not the amperage available on any single +12V rail. That PSU is more than capable of handling the load, although it is, of course, possible that you simply have a defective unit.

I take it that you've used adapters to form two more PCI-E connectors, so that you have 2 PCI-E connectors in each card? Are you having problems in games (i.e. not just 3D Mark)?

EDIT: You don't have a large drive array or anything like that that's not mentioned in your sig do you?

Cheap PSUs - 2% of system costs, responsible for 28% of system deaths
As Sealed Stick was removed, lost or damaged, it shall be out of warranty validity.
- The "Warranty void if removed" sticker on numerous CoolerMaster PSUs.

Are you using adapters that have the 6 pin PCI-E on one end and two 4 pin molex connectors on the other end? If you are, then you should be using the two PCI-E connectors coming DIRECTLY from the power supply.

I just realized that your cards require 2 PCI-E connectors each, which totals to 4 of them. Your power supply has only 2. I'm not 100% sure if it's better to use individual PCI-E connectors, but if it is, then you should have gotten a PSU with 4 connectors:

You should have two connectors coming out of each card - use the two native PCI-E cables and two molex to PCI-E adapters to get the 4 PCI-E required. If you'd only plugged in one, the GPUs would be receiving insufficient power.

I would have preferred to see 4 native connectors, but what he has should work without issues.
