Default (Very) Cheap Upgrade

I want to be able to do on-the-fly burning with my two DVD burners. Right now they are going through a single IDE cable, so it is not possible.

I need a:

-Motherboard: LGA 775, PCI-E, obviously 2 IDE, 2 SATA

-Case: Something cool

-HSF

I want to spend under $200.

1. The reason I can't do on-the-fly is becasue im using a single IDE, right?

2. WIll I able to get all this for under my price range?

3. Would I be better off getting a PCI card that allows for more IDE ports, would that allow for on-the-fly?

Thanks.

As far as I know, you can do on the fly burning with a single IDE connector. You will be able to fit all three into a $200 budget, but your best option is to spend more money on the motherboard and then wait to buy a new case and HSF.

Please elaborate. The program I have been using does not allow for it.

I was thinking the same thing, but I definitely dont need some awesome mobo or watever. I would rather spend more on the mobo and less on the case or HSF.

I read some more about on the fly burning...it's possible to use only one ide channel, but highly unrecommended, as it decreases efficiency.

I suppose for your needs and price range, this is your best option for a motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131142

The next thing you want to upgrade is the HSF, and lastly the case, which you may want to hold off and save up more for a case. I'm not too educated in the field of HSF's, so I'll let someone else recommend one.

That is a really nice motherboard, I was thinking about spending around $100 on the motherboard. Enough to get a nice looking case and HSF. Unless I can include that mobo and a decent case and HSF.

Like I said, you'll probably want to wait to buy the case, you'll probably be able to fit a HSF into your budget.

If you really want all 3, this is an excellent case, but also obviously outside your price range: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129017

Something more within your price range, but still an excellent case (I have it): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119068

Just wondering.

Do they make PCI cards with more IDA/PATA ports?

Would that allow for on-the-fly burning?

copying straight to the other disc instead of making an image to the hdd first. NOT RECCOMENDED if your computer's ancient.
