Default Win 2k hangs on initial boot

I have this weird problem when I start up the computer, eveything runs fine and when I type in my password at the log in screen (win2000 prof), the computer just hangs with a blank screen and an hourglass running. Now I will CNTL+ALT+DEL to bring up my options and choose to shut down, and the computer will shut down with no problems. Then when I start the system back up and type in my password, all my desktop icons come up immediately and everything loads and runs fine. Weird huh? Anyone heard of this, or have any suggestions?

TIA,

Brett

Well, theres somthing wrong. Try replacing the boot.ini file... If that doesnt work, then you might have to reformat the comp.. Problems like this are hard to fix because ANYthing could have caused it..

How long do you let it sit and wait there for before restarting/shutting-down
