OK, now I've looked on a couple of websites, and I've found that although DDR2 usually doesn't overheat as bad... GDDR3 has WAY better performance... please correct me if I'm wrong and tell me if you know anything else about the 2 types of memory...

GDDR3 is only used for graphics. It is different that DDR3. The plan for DDR3 is for it to reduce power consumption but also offer higher performance.

GDDR3 are used in graphics RAM (hence the added "G"), and DDR2 is used in system RAM, so it's pointless to compare them... But as Cromewell was saying DDR3 is coming out later for system ram, so is that what you were comparing, or you got mixed up?

GDDR3 has been out for a while, and they have video cards with GDDR4.

I'll say it again, GDDR3 is not the same thing as DDR3. The terms are not interchangable, they share a similar name that is all.
