Default How can I put an OS on a 10 yr old computer

I want to put on any operating system onto my 10 yr old computer. It does not have a cd drive and I don't think the floppy is working well either. I have a cable to connect the hard drive to my other computer. Is there any way I can put an OS directly onto that hard drive?

as long as its an OS below XP, then a simple case of using the other pc to install windows onto it should work

yank out the hard drive on the old pc, yank out the hard drive in the other pc, put in the old harddrive to the new pc, install windows, now swap back!

(i know this is a way which requires more effort, but its a less complicated way, so dont flame me )
