Default Speaker grill cloth question

Some speakers have fabric stretched over the grill and some don't. For those that do, does the fabric make a difference in the sound at all? If one was to take the fabric off would it ruin the speakers? Just wondering since sometimes the fabric gets torn.

Many high end separate speakers have removable cloth grills so it's all personal preference mate - makes no difference to the sound anyways, I personally think speakers look better without it

It depends on how tight and close the mesh is. The more light you can see through it, the better your treble will be.

Like Eklipze3k said, it's more of a cosmetic thing than anything. If you like the look better with them off, go for it. They'll just get more dust on the cones, but it won't affect them.
