Default 2.93gb??

I just added 2 gb of ram to my 2gb already there, for a total of 4gb. Cpu-z and pc wizard both recognize the new ram, all ddr2800 all running at 400 mhz, in dual channel mode, but when I clicked on "My Computer" properties of xp it shows 2.93 gb of ram, why is this?

you will need a 64bit os to utilize all 4 gb.

As kof said, you need a 64-bit OS or Vista to address 4GB of ram. You can do Physical Address Extension for programs that use PAE, but its not really the best thing to do. Might want to look into 64-bit drivers for your hardware. If you can find drivers for everything, spenda bit of cash on a 64-bit copy of XP, or find an upgrade to Vista.

Just to confirm with what they said, Windows XP 32-bit cant see 4GB of RAM, only 3GB.
