Default Dual Channel RAM?

What is the difference between regular DDR2 RAM and 'Dual Channel' DDR2 RAM?

I kind of know what dual channel RAM is, but how do I go about utiliing it on a new motherboard?

DDR and DDR2 are both double data rate memory. When installing ram you need two identical dimms to enable the "dual channel mode". All DDR and DDR2 memory is dual channel. When going to install memory on any board you read the information in the board's own user manual where it shows which dimm slots are used for that.

When installing two RAM..select 1-3 OR 2-4 slot to make dual channel setting.I have heard that dual channel setting give better perfomance.

The Ram is not dual channel, the motherboard is. If the Ram are the same spec. or close enough the board will run them in Dual Channel

DDR2 ram uses a lower voltage than DDR. DDR2 also can run at higher frequencies, but also generally have higher latencies.
