Default Popping on "listen again"

If i try to listen to the radio online, or use the BBC 'listen again' the sound suffers from frequent pops and stutters.
My PC is AMD athlon at 1000Mhz, 368 RAM, there's a basic PCI sound-card.
I have AVG and ZoneAlarm running in the background but no other major apps.
If I use a different PC the sound is fine, so I know it's me, not the original recording.
Any suggestions as to how I can determine what the problem is? It seems unlikely that I am low on system resources. Thanks.
