Default Need a bit of help- jpeg

This is my first post here, and some of you guys may not be pleased with the level of knowledge that I'll display in this post, but I need to get this solved.

My previous scanned resume opened with Microsoft Word, meaning it was a scanned document with the .doc extension

Now, I went to a cafe to get my latest resume scanned, and it is in .jpeg format.

Does it look OK for it to be in .jpeg ( I mean is it usual for scanned resumes go out to employers in .jpeg ?), and can a print out be taken by adusting the size of the text when the receiver gets it in .jpeg ?

Also the JPEG file appears to be larger than the word one- close to 2 MB when the word one is about 250 K. Any reason for that ?

Is there something which can convert a .jpeg scanned document into a document which opens with .doc?

I'll appreciate any help given
