I just have a quick question, which I'm sure somebody will have an answer that will make me feel like an idiot.
I recently purchased a Toshiba laptop, model A135-S4417, from Office Depot for my business. My question is about the processor. This is the processor is is supposed to have in it: Intel Pentium dual-core processor T2060 operating at 1.6GHz Documented Here http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?...g=true&An=text This is the processor I have: Intel Core Duo T2250 @ 1.73GHz Attached is a screen shot documenting this. Is an Intel Core Duo and Pentium dual core the same thing? I have searched Google and I can't find and answer, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Josh |

Assuming I think you mean that since it is a dual core you just double the 798 witch = 1596 so that is incorrect because his dual core is a 1.73Ghz i have noticed that some of these dual cores come under speed or throttle down for power saving when you are not doing anything CPU extensive, somebody with more experience should be a long to verify this... EDIT: try using the computer with something CPU extensive to see if it throttles back to normal speed, if it does not then you got one shipped under speed or the multiplier to low or something, but i cant help you with that one. it's called CPU throttling. It makes it run at lower speeds when not under heavy load to save battery and reduce heat. It first came out in the Pentium M back in the day.

There was:
Pentium (which that isn't) Pentium D (which that isn't) Core Duo (which is what that looks like) Core 2 Duo (A step up from your processor) Yes your processor is a Core Duo and it is dual core.

Hello,
Yep. Intel Core processors have Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology, hence the throttling. The Intel Pentium Dual Core T2060 processor is a confuser. It is the same as a Core Duo processor (it supports EIST, execute disable bit and has two cores), apart from one difference...The Intel Pentium Dual Core T2060 processor has 1MB L2 Cache (half the L2 cache an Intel Core processor has). More info here about the Intel Pentium Dual Core T2060: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_pentium_dual_core
