Just a tip/suggestion, if you're playing DX9 games that let you toggle between DX8 and DX9 mode (i.e., HL2), run the game in DX8 mode and youll notice a lot more performance

where is it you go in control panel that will allow you to update directx?

I didn't know that Half life 2 let you do that. How would you do that? through the console? if so can you post the command plz? and sorry BIGSHOW1030 for asking for this in your thread I could have googled but feeling a tad lazy just this moment ;-).

I dont friggen know hehe i put my HL2 CDs in the oven ... then they started smelling reall funny
