Hi. I have a generic dvd burner of the Philips brand which I guess isn't really relevant. I noticed my dvd's get these rings of dust all around the discs where I guess the laser reads. Usually a few rings of various sizes around the disc at different points of the disc. I believe this is where the lense is reading. Now this happens usually when I'm using the same disc for like a week or so either by usage or just leaving it in player. My question is how do the rings form in perfectly thin rings that go all around the disc. The disc is suspended a few cm's off the tray on a little motor spindle thing. Nothing physically touches the surface of the disc so how do these rings appear. Does the laser give off so sort of charge that collects dust in a circular shape around disc? Is disc spinning sucking up dust forcing it in a shape of where ever the lense is at the particular point? Sorry for the strange question. Hope you guys can shed some light. Thanks in advance for taking the time.
P.S. It's definitely dust since it wipes right off. Last edited by AngelusX; 03-16-2007 at 07:49 PM. Reason: Forgot to mention about the dust rings. |
