Default good build between 400-500$

This would not be used for any gaming at all. Its for my grandma. Just want some opinions.

Just so you know she currently has
p3 900mhz
256mb ram
40 gig Hard drive
windows ME
crap monitor
crap mouse
crap keyboard

well why dont u just use what she has, and put windows xp on it, another 256mb ram stick, and get a new keyboard and mouse, if its not used for gamin that should be fine to web brows, email, and word process

I got a core 2 duo build (without monitor) for 390 after shipping and rebates. Then a monitor I could probably scrounge up. I think this is the route I am going to go.

I don't think that much computer power is really necassary.

With all the crap my uncle loads on there that bogs down the pc...you would be suprised. Plus, she wants it to last for a long time.
