Exclamation Would Vista stuggle on this spec:

I had a quick search and couldn't find anything.

Would Vista run smoothly on 1GB RAM, AMD Turion 64.

BTW it's 32bit home prem.

I don't need it for gaming, just programming, messenger, word processing and internet.

Processor and memory wise it will run well, but what do you have for a video card? If you want to use Aero (well), you need a decent video card.

Can't find the graphics card, but it's a new nVIDIA?

Is it an actual card, or is it integrated into the motherboard?

Any possible model numbers? 7600 and above are better than most.

Thats integrated video. But it is fairly decent and is DX9 I believe, so it should be able to run Aero, but it may not be the smoothest.

what exactly is aero? I have home premium but I've never seen basic (so I dont know what I have that basic doesnt) Is it just the little alt+tab thing and the effects when minimizing (or "restoring down")?

Aero is Vista's 3D interface. Part of it is the "ALT TAB" type thing, while the others have transparent windows and start menu.
