How about a Welcome to the Computer Forum! first? Official Welcome Thread And a reminder to all new members to be sure to review the Forum Rules
There are a few things to look at there. 1) type of file format used. 2)software used for burning video to dvd media 3) what player or software are you trying to use for playback? Depending on how and in what format the video was burned to disk many players/softwares may not be able to run it. Simply burning an mpeg II file to a dvd won't run either if it was simply a data software for burning data files to disk rather then one that processes video and audio breaking them down into different file types for reassembly by the player used. Even with an mpeg II or avi file for example the player in some cases Windows Media Player won't work. WMP 9 lacks dvd support while easily playing audio cds. WMP 10 will run various dvds.

Have you ran it on a standard dvd player for home use? That would tell you if the burn to disk was good. You may also ran into some bad blank media there. I ttossed enough "frisbies" around from crap disks!
Try opening a new container and find track data information already on them. brand new sealed from the factory! ![]()

Apparently that external recorder doesn't burn disks in a pc compatible format where you can use the rip option. Will it burn cd-rs as well as dvd blanks? The other question would be if you have a dvd drive or just cd rom drive on your system? Most external dvd player will now play audio cds as well as dvd movies. But those have a wider range of capability for the different forms of media used. dvd-r, cd-r, dvd and cd rewritables.
