Default $500 Laptop

Hi,

i was wanting to buy a laptop for about $500, where would be a good place to buy or find one?

here are some I looked at which one would you recomend or where could i get a better one?


I saw this one that is about $570:
Compaq Presario 15.4" Widescreen Notebook PC (C508US)

CPQ C508US
• Intel Celeron M 430
• 100GB hard drive
• Play DVDs and burn CDs

• 512MB of DDR2 memory
• Built-in 802.11g/b wireless
• Windows Vista Home Basic

If you get vista I would reccomend 1gig of ram due to the fact that, that is reccomended by microsoft. I would not discount dell, as they often have excellent deals. I would run a search on google for dell coupons and see if you can turn up any discount codes that can be used online. These are failry common to find and you can get some good deals. At the time I got my laptop I found a $700 off coupon, so search around.

of those the Toshiba is for sure the fastest, but like said above you will need at least 1 gig of ram to take advantage of what Vista has to offer

Yes, out of those three, the Toshiba would be the best choice.

For sites, you can always look at these:
www.outpost.com
www.newegg.com
www.tigerdirect.com

I don't really like tigerdirect that much because it seems like their whole inventory and site is based off rebates. Other than that, I would just shop around and look for sales at local stores.
