Default Any way to get Windows Updates...

...as downloadable and savable files?

i recently upgraded my parent's computer and failed to remember that they are doomed with dial-up... with a fresh install of XP Pro on the hard drive, i had about a million updates to install, and dial-up woulda taken days to complete...

is there any way around this? could i download them at home and take them to her house on some sort of removable media? or do i have to haul their computer down to my house again and haul it back after i'm done?

you can download sp2.....

i think the rollup updates have to be downloaded with windows update, tho.

but as long as the computer has the genuine advantage program installed on it, you can just have sp2 on a disk

i do have SP2 on the disk... and it is a genuine copy... i was just wondering if i had to drag their computer down here to install the updates, or if there is some other way to do it faster...

I believe you can go to microsoft.com and search on each update number (kb######) and download it. But you might want to try searching on the net to see if any site has all the updates available as a single download.

Depends how many updates you have but it might be easier to simply steal their tower and bring it to your house and do it there and then take it back...

Have you tried AutoPatcher? It has all of the critical updates along with a bunch of extra stuff.

search for them through dial up. Find the names of the updates and download them on another computer. burn them to a cd and install it from there.

(it wouls be easier to buy a router)

hmm... most solutions i've found seem to have bundled spyware with it... seems like i'll be stealing their tower for updates... thanks for the ideas...
