Default Staring my own web server.....

For a project for my economy class, I need to create and start my own compay, so I decided to my own web server, but I really need more information on this. Can anyone give me more info?

Are you going to be running this server at home? If you are you better check with your isp becuase most will not let you run a webserver without paing a lot more becuause you have to have a static ip and more...

Not strictly true, just register a dynamicDNS record at www.dyndns.com and it will track your IP and update any DNS record you may have with them...

I host my own servers at this house and dont pay a penny extra...

You can create a server for no cost whatsoever as long as you have at least one PC, judging by the fact you are posting on this forum, im guessing you fill that criteria already, lol


Now all you need is the server software, to make it simple i will recommend WAMP http://www.wampserver.com/en/

I think i needs to edit my post, I'm not actually making a server, I'm starting a made up company that provides web hosting, so, naturally, I would need to know about servers, especially professional grade ones.......

just go and take a look at what other hosting companies opfer at the different price tiers... that should give you most of the info you need

my web server runs internally on our network. So outside connections wont access it. i used appache for setting up.
