Default USB hub

I need additional USB-2 ports. I have some old hubs that were produced when there was only the 1.2 version. Has anyone had experience whether these will work and/or degrade performance?

You'll get the speed of whatever version of USB is the slowest between the device and computer. (Whether it's the computer port, device or hub) However, pretty much all USB format stuff is completely compatible with eachother.
