i got a question i wanna try to overcolocking on one of my old cpu that i have, its intel celeron d 03' with 2.9 ghz, i jus need some good websites or ways to do it anything i would appreciate thanks

well heres the basic's, hope it helps few main thing's we look at here ur FSB(front side bus) muitplyer, Ram ratio, voltage, and tempture are the main things(did i miss ne thing else?? )

Ok so ur FSB or front side bus is like the place where everything kinda talks to ur processor, think of ur fsb as the high way into towen, the bigger it is the more data/cars(in the highway case) can go through.

muitplyer number muiltply's the FSB to get real CPU speed. So my processor is a E6400 with a stock core speed of 2.13 with a FSB of 266(stock) and 8x muiltplyer so my real cpu speed would be 8 x 266 to get 2.133ghz

Ram ratio is the ratio ur ram talk to ur CPU at, so if its at a 1:1 ratio it'll take in the data at the same speed(i think not too sure on this one someone correct me if im wrong) so if my FSB is 266 and im running it at a 1:1 ratio my ram would be running at 266mhz too.

Now i have DDR2 800 ram since this is dubble data rate its actually runs 400mhz, if u run it higher than 400mhz it would be overclocking ur RAM, say if i had a FSB of 420 with a 1:1 ratio my ram would be running at 420mhz but for now its running at 266mhz, SDR ram shows real frequency i think.

ok so theres a few different ways to overclock, the easyest is upping the FSB,(in bios if ur bios), the next is upping the muiltplyer(most CPU's lock there muiltyplyer for upping it, meaning u can't up it, but some let u lower the muiltyplyer, and some just lock both) just work it out upping the muiltpyer x the fsb means higher CPU speed but, most ppl dont just up the muiltpyer, its usually a combination of the 2 upping the muiltyplyer and lowering the fsb so say u had a unlocked muiltplyer and u uped it to 9 x 250(fsb) u would get a CPU frequency of 2.25ghz whould would be higher than stock.

THINGS 2 REMEMBER!!!!!!

-Ok remember dont make ur Ram run at a higher frequency if its just crappy no name brand or it'll most porbally die.

-Since ur trying it on a OLD P3 only up 1mhz in ur FSB at a time cause old CPU's suck at overclocking.

-test it with stress test like Prime95(google it)

-when its unstable just up the voltage for ur cpu as low as u can then try again.untill u cant overclock no more.

ok so here's just an example of my overclock

I started with a Intel core 2 duo E6400, runs a 2.13ghz stock standard, with a FSB of 266 and a muiltyplyer of 8(8 x 266 = 2133mhz)i have ddr2 800 ram, so its rated up to 400mhz but currently(or wen i first got it) it was running at 266mhz so way lower than it's rated.

I upped the FSB from 266 all the way up to 400mhz and put my ram at a 1:1 ratio. which means 8 x 400mhz = 3200mhz so now its at 3.2ghz an overclock from 2.13ghz.

lets say i only had ddr2 400(i dont even know if they make these) and i had a fsb of 400mhz i could use a 1:2 ratio for my ram so my fsb would still be at 400mhz but ram only at 200mhz i hope this helps, just ask more questions wen u need help

I find that the PCI devices are my weakest link, and my motherboard lacks that feature that locks the PCI frequency.
