I have an e-machine that I would like to give to my son. He is 11 years old and is starting to do projects from school on the internet. He's not into gaming on the computer because he has his play station, game cube ect. He uses the internet and word and thats it. I just want to make it a little faster for him. I also bought him an external hard drive so he could save his pictures and all his junk. Last night I tried over clocking with clockgen. It didn't work. Here are the specks on it. Any help would be helpful.

Try looking in the BIOS, and if nothing is there you might have to buy something from Emachines, that's the way HP is so emachines might be the same. Try the BIOS.

More likely than not, they probably locked the bios so that you won't be able to OC.

Which file am I looking for in Bios? I can look once i'm pointed in the right direction? What I really don't understand is that it's a Pentuim 4 1.5 and its clocking at:
General Information Type : Synchronous Write Mode : Write-Back Place : Internal Multiplier : 1/1x (1495.9 MHz) >> Cache Information Associativity : 8-way Line Size : 64 bytes Bus : 256-bit Prefetch Logic : Yes > Voltage : 1.688 V > Processor Temperature : 47 °C > Processor Fan : 3510 rpm > FPU Coprocessor : Present >> General Information Integrated : Yes Model : Compatible Intel > Processor activity : : 3% Confused? Thanks again Melting Point |

I have been in bios and checking my power settings and have found the following:
What is (CPU) THRM-THROTTLING MEAN 50% and it gives you the following choices: 12.5, 25.0, 37.5, 50.0, 62.5, 75.0, 87.5 is it here were I raise the settings for OC CPU? |

Most eMachines BIOSes are dumbed-down/customized versions of the ones the original motherboard maker uses. I have one; about 60% of the items in the BIOS section of the motherboard manual do not show up in the actual BIOS screens.
The original maker of your mother board is FIC, and it's a model VC31 Now. Whether you want to go to the FIC website and download a BIOS for a VC31 and attempt to flash your BIOS chips just so you can overclock is up to you. But you do risk frying your BIOS chips if everything isn't precisely the same. I personally do not think it's worth the risk. A new eMachines mobo will run you $150: http://parts.emachines.com/emachines...oduct_id=68340

It looks like you have a multiplier and FSB option (both which are used for OC)....... But if those are only displays, then, your our of luck..... Also, before you do anything check to see if you have any PCI/AGP locks which are practically needed to OC........
The THRM Throttling is probably for the fan (don't quote)..... Also, keep in mind, that if you do blow-out your mobo, not only will you have to replace it but probably also have to replace you OS as prefab OS are usually different than their retail countparts and will ussualy result in an error upon next boot.
