There are no rules for selling anything here, besides needing 100+ posts.

It's a good idea to ask for pictures before you buy anything from anyone on here, but it's up to the person buying.

Kind of a stupid rule. Besides the fact that most nonworking computer parts have no visual damage, if you know anything about computers, you should know exactly what you are buying just by the model number. Sure, for things like laptops, cases, music players, etc, it would be good to have a picture because those things experience physical wear, but as far as things like CPUs, hard drives, motherboards, etc go, a link or a post of the product description should suffice.

well, a picture could prove that the seller actually owns what he is selling, but i guess it shouldn't be necessary unless that seller never had previous selling experiences on this forum.

If someone was trying to scam, it wouldn't be hard at all to get a picture of the item.

Not everyone has a camera, or wants to go to the effort of taking a picture particularly if it's the sort of item that doesn't really require one.

I feel it's sufficient for the prospective buyer to ask for a picture if they feel it would help them come to a decision.
