Just the basic sound card, about the same as a S/B Audigy SE

Heh, you might as well have said "I just paid someone $5 to shove a fork in my eye! How good of a deal did I get?"

99% of the time, any computer parts you buy not online are ripping you off.

How's that? I've never walked into a store and saw something I wanted, and not thought "I could get that cheaper online".

With retail stores you pay for the convenience and customer support, if you do not need either, don't pay extra. Most people need these 'trivial' things.

As far as it being good, does it sound better?

If not, return it.

I've just had numerous times where stores (bestbuy, compusa, etc) were cheaper than lets say NewEgg.

I'm not saying that most of the time online isn't cheaper. I'm just saying that it isn't 99% of the time, thats all.

It's a fairly ok sound card, probably on par with onboard.
