Default MOBO Password +Windows instal?

i recieved my grandfathers computer when he passed away and i think its time to reinstall windows xp. only problem is that the boot sequence is set to boot straight from the HDD. and there is a password set to get into the settings. so does anyone know a way around this? will removing the Cmos battery reset the password option?

thanks for your help.

Yup, removing the CMOS should get rid of the password.
