Default new OS

I'm currently Building a new PC. I'm going to need to get a new OS and hard drive (sadly). What one OS should I get, Linux, Windows XP or Vista?

I'm going to agree with preator if you want to take a risk and play with the future and its cheap enough get vista if not just go with the good old xp pro sp2

Actually, it's open source.

I'd go with XP pro sp2, because it is the most supported O.S. at the moment. Right now Vista has a few incompatibilities with older software and hardware(like XP in 2001). As for linux, it depends on what you want run, how much you know about linux and if you can operate it properly. Keep in mind that you will need a windows API to run things like Ms office on linux.
