Ok , I really dont know what is wrong with my computer...
About two weeks ago, my monitor stopped responding to my computer... this is after i got a water cooling system for my processor... well after the monitor stopped working, i sent in the motherboard and video card back to manufacture and got a brand new vid. card and mobo. i pluged in all the parts and rebooted, but this time the computer restarts constantly... over and over and over w/o me doing anything? If i let it sit.... it keeps restarting and sometimes gets to install windows screen but then it restarts again( i am tring to reinstall windows because i got new mobo and vid card) i have tried everything possible to test this computer..... i put less strain on power supply(only plugged in what i needed) but i doubt it is the power supply because it is a 500w one. I tried to see if it was my hard drive... but that wasnt it because it shows up on another computer.... then tested my cd drives by unplugging them but still didnt work..... i tried to move the memory from one slot to the other but that did not work... Just this afternoon windows loaded up... then started to reboot once again? It get to the bios fine... after that it keeps restarting over over and over agin? WHY?Windows xp home pentium d processor 1 gb ddr2 256 ddr3 vid card somebody help me ![]() |

Why the heck did you bother installing a water cooling system for a Pentium D?? Your problem could be anything, you aren't really giving any information. Give us model numbers, etc.

Could be that the new parts are faulty?

Constant rebooting could be do to overheating. Id suggest going into your bios and checking your system temperatures and cpu. Post back with that info.
If your temps are too hot, your cooling may not be working or installed properly.

man this pentium d is running at 60-65 c (watching a movie or playing a game) and i dont think that is good.... in the bios the cpu is running at around 35-45 c... i dont know what model numbers you need... pentuim d 940 processor.... cooler master mini aqua 90mm water cooler.... sea gate 80 gb hard drive... asus motherboard.... geil ddr2 memory.... hard drive is working fine cuz i tested it out on another computer.... i called the motherboard company and they told me to take the motherboard out of the case and it should work (something about metal touching metal).... well i did that and it didnt work... i took off the water cooling system and put the air cooling back on ( motherboard was outside of box) and turned on the computer and it loaded up windows.... then after i shut it down and came back, same thing (reboot over and over and over again) i just want to know why it does that... it worked fine earlier.... is it a motherboard problem.... memory? i worked on it for about 5 hours yesterday, no luck.....
i have tried everything... somebody plz help me.... and answers will be really appreciated ![]() Last edited by term2121; 04-06-2007 at 10:06 PM. |

No, you do not need memtest, but I doubt you could run it if the computer restarts constantly.
Anyway, give it a go: http://www.memtest86.com/
